About Us
KAR is a Finnish company founded in 1971. In its early years, the company focused on manufacturing transport tanks for hazardous materials such as fuels, chemicals, and hot products like bitumen. The name KAR dates back decades and originates from the Finnish words “Kuorma-Auto Rakenne” which means truck structure.
Our products and clients
Today, KAR offers a comprehensive range of equipment and accessories for the transport, storage, transfer, and handling of various liquids, alongside with lifecycle services for the equipment. Our product portfolio has also extended to platform solutions for military and defence logistics in the most demanding environments. Our trusted client base includes transport and industrial companies, as well as clients from the aviation sector and authorities.
Factory & engineer office
For decades, KAR served both domestic and international customers from its facilities in Tuulissuo, Lieto. As our operations grew and exports became the majority of our business, we took a major step forward in early 2025 by relocating to Yliskulma, Lieto—quadrupling our production and office space. With over 5,000 square meters of factory and office facilities and a 1.5-hectare site, we are now able to manufacture larger assemblies and serve our customers even more efficiently.
Lieto is located in Southern Finland, close to the ports of Turku and Naantali, enabling smooth transport logistics by the sea.
Authorities
KAR designs and manufactures reliable, compliant, and mission-ready equipment for the storage, transport, and handling of liquids, fuels, and other hazardous materials, as well as trailers and platform solutions for the transport of defense assets in demanding terrain conditions.
Aviation
We design and manufacture JET A-1 fuel tanks, aircraft refueling vehicles, distribution units, and various customizable trailer structures for the aviation industry.
Transport & Industry
We manufacture and maintain equipment for transport companies and industrial operators for the safe handling, storage, and transportation of liquids. KAR provides solutions for water, fuels, chemicals, and other hazardous or hot substances such as bitumen. Our product range includes various (ADR) road tankers, storage tanks, semi- and full-trailers, fueling stations, vacuum tanks, and fluid control systems.

With over fifty years of experience, we understand our clients’ business models and have a strong knowledge of ADR laws and regulations related to their operations. This helps us to provide optimal solutions that achieve the high quality, reliability and efficiency that are characteristic of KAR-products.

By manufacturing and maintaining equipment for the distribution and transport of hazardous substances, we do our part to minimize environmental damage on a societal level. We comply with national and international environmental regulations and ensure that our facility in Lieto does not place any unnecessary burden on the surrounding nature.
